Villa Penna Traditional Italian Wedding. Detroit and Sterling Heights, Michigan wedding photography provided by Kari Dawson and her team.
I got very skittish in the middle of Kimberly and Christopher’s engagement session and nearly took Kimberly down… over a chipmunk! And they still like me! I feel so blessed and fortunate that Christopher and Kimberly found me and that I adore both of them as much as they seem to dig me.
Holy Family is a small (comparatively speaking) Catholic church tucked in the heart of Downtown Detroit. The beautiful historic building is a soft yellow on the outside and warm and charming on the inside. I made my way to give Christopher a hug, congratulate him and say hello. I asked him how he was holding up and he TRIED to tell me he was fine. Christopher wears a tough Italian exterior but he is quite sentimental. I suspect it’s one of the things Kimberly loves most about him. Kimberly’s father had a quiet smile as he brought his daughter down the aisle. Christopher got a little choked up and Kimberly beamed all the way down. Her closest friends and bridesmaids also shed tears as her father gave her away. The ceremony was full of beautiful readings and rich in the tradition of the Catholic community.
The couple of things that stood out the most for me on their wedding day were the depth of their relationships and their connection. Kimberly and Christopher both friendships that are authentic and date back to their school aged and teen years. I love the way that Kimberly and Christopher are so easy together. I love the way they look at each other when they forget I am there and think no one is watching. Kimberly and Christopher, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you both. I am sure that you have seen by now that my team and I had a great time shooting and eating. Eating is always our favorite part. I adore you both! Happy honeymooning!
