Blush and navy fall Planterra wedding in West Bloomfield, Michigan provided by Kari Dawson, top rated Metro Detroit wedding photographer, and her team.
Their morning…
Cynthia and Tommy both spent their morning getting ready, with their families, at Tommy’s family home. My assistant, Faith aka daughter extraordinaire, was smitten when she saw the two shuffle past each other with hands over their eyes to avoid seeing each other. Thomas and Cynthia both wandered, separately, up the stairway to separate rooms. Cynthia’s mom and sister guided her into her exquisite dress. Tommy’s brother and brother-in-law hysterically tied and re-tied their neckties countless times. When the guys got it together Thomas waited patiently at the bottom of the stairs. He turned to see his beautiful bride coming down the stairway of his childhood home and his jaw dropped. He let out an audible ‘oh wow’ and it was an incredible moment. Only Tommy could see her until she reached the bottom but I love that their mom’s and family got to witness Tommy’s precious reaction. Couples often wonder if a first look will ruin the suspense, the moment, or make things less emotional. The answer is a resounding no. Brides and grooms are still nervous before the ceremony even after a first look.
The details…
They had such a beautiful wedding day color palette of blush and navy. The groom and groomsmen all wore navy suits and crazy socks. Tommy finished his off with a navy necktie with white polka dots. The bridesmaids each chose their own blush floor length dresses that complimented them so well. Wait until you see the little flower girl (their niece) in her handmade asian dress. So adorable. Cynthia and Tommy later changed at their reception into a chinese dress and jacket that Cynthia’s mom made and matched their flower girl. Cynthia’s wedding dress was stunning in every way. From the silhouette to the off the shoulder sleeves to the sheer back and lace train.
Ceremony and reception…
Planterra of course created gorgeous bouquets, boutonnieres, and centerpieces. Each was full of blush and champagne roses combined with lush greenery and eucalyptus. And you have to check out all the gold candlesticks and candelabras. There must have been fifty candles on the head table alone. The ceremony was beautifully officiated by a friend while two violinists ushered them into and out of the ceremony. I love that Planterra whisks the couples away to a private area where they can sign the marriage license while a waitstaff member brings in champagne and appetizers. The wedding day can be so reeling and I love when couples take a few moments to themselves. As the sun set the candles and twinkle lights danced in the dark and created such a romantic space. After dinner Cynthia and Thomas shared their first dance, fed each other a Krispy Kreme donut and pulled all their friends and family in for some traditional greek dancing.
Tommy and Cynthia I have loved getting to know you both and I am so honored to have been invited in and trusted with such a special time in your lives. Enjoy reliving it briefly with a few of my favorites. xoxo – Kari
