After a three year separation and dating long distance Brian recently moved back to Michigan where it all began. Sophomore year, at the University of Michigan, Melinda’s flirtatious advances toward Brian went unnoticed until she looked at him and said ‘you smell’. Brian pulled off the noise cancelling headphones he was wearing and so began their love story. Melinda is a new MD and Brian has returned to U of M for his Masters in their business school. It was at U of M where Brian asked Melinda on their first date and later asked her to be his wife.
Melinda would tell you that she is awkward therefore making Brian do a lot of the communicating with me and their other vendors. Truth be told, Melinda truly loves to chat. I remember thoroughly enjoying their engagement session. The early afternoon of her wedding day, she treated me like an old friend catching up. Anyone can see by watching this adorable couple just how completely smitten they are with each other. Their relationship is pure. Their presence together truly affects their countenance, tone of voice and they laugh so much together.
They had an outdoor ceremony on a perfect June afternoon on the front lawn of the Rattlesnake Club on the Detroit Riverwalk. The cocktail hour took place on the patio also outdoors as the warm afternoon gave way to a breezy evening. And inside the party got started, toasts were given, tears were shed, and belly laughs were shared. I cried a bit during their first dance as they each sang out loud to each other along with John Legend to his famous song All of Me. The portraits on the Riverwalk are breathtaking and the Rattlesnake Club is situated on one of the prettiest streets in Detroit.
Dr. Melinda Dewald Delaney and Mr. Brian Delaney, it has been such a pleasure spending these last few months with the pair of you. Your connection truly warms my heart and I am so honored to have been part of your journey. I’m sure you have already hit the ground running with work and school. But I’m excited for a time when you both get to run away together, unplug, and regroup. Many, many blessings to you both!
