Navy and black spring Planterra wedding in West Bloomfield, Michigan provided by Kari Dawson, top-rated Metro Detroit wedding photographer, and her team.
Their wedding plans…
I first met Jared and Laura at Jared’s parent’s Ann Arbor home where I also had the privilege of meeting his parents and their adorable dog who was just a puppy at the time. The two of them were warm and friendly, of course, but a little nervous. I had the honor of shooting some celebratory photos when Laura graduated from law school, too. Days before their March 2020 spring Planterra wedding they saw their plans go up in smoke. We chose a new date in 2021 but early in the year when there was still so much uncertainty. Their special day finally arrived on March 5th. By then, not only did Laura and Jared feel like old friends, so did their families. I just had to know if they snuck off and just did the thing while they waited for their big day but they really waited. They both have so much respect for their families and with them and each set of parents in different states they opted to wait it out.
A wedding at Planterra is always a magical day but it was made extra special with sunshine and the level of joy and excitement just exuded from everyone in the room. All of the mom awards go to Laura and Jared’s moms for their kindness, always checking on my team, and to Rena for even providing florals and a lay flat for the invitations and details.
The wedding invitation suite is classic and simple with a pop of wedgewood blue and sealed with a wax seal. The small details provided a modern twist to a classic suite much like the rest of their details. Laura’s wedding dress was also a modern classic with clean simple lines but an off the shoulder neckline with the perfect fit. Our maid of honor stole the show with her velvet suit that looked incredible with the navy velvet floor length dresses. Both paired perfectly with the classic black menswear but Jared in a black velvet jacket was the perfect final touch.
All of the details at Planterra were created to add warmth, a little sparkle, and lush florals to create intimacy while allowing the conservatory to shine on its own.
