He spotted her across the room one Pint Night at Central Michigan and I fully loved listening to Michael describe his nerves as he worked up the courage to talk to Erika. I’m so blessed to work with couples who enjoy the things I enjoy and the top of the list for these two includes each other, water and dogs. And it was a lovely combination for their engagement session. One of the things I love most about the area I live in is the wide open space. Being a Metro Detroit engagement and wedding photographer can look like many different things because we have access so many different types of beauty from rural to urban to downtown. Mike and Erika love spending time together in places I love, doing things I also enjoy with my family. I’m a BIG fan of summer. Sunshine and warmth thaw my bones, put a pep in my step and being on the water has always been my happy place. I loved shooting Erika and Michael’s session in a place that reflects what I love, it makes it so easy to be passionate and excited about the memories we preserved together. The open fields, tall grass and dock on the water ease relaxation and simplicity right into your veins. Simplicity is the new black, ya know! Michael proposed on a sail boat so hitting the water was an obvious choice. There may have been a small chill in the air but the light was just as gorgeous as the pair of them. Erika and Michael, the two of you are seriously soooo stinkn’ gorgeous! You made my job easy and the evening fun. I loved meeting Mama Vollman and your sister Lindsay too!
