This downtown Detroit engagement session is provided by Kari Dawson, top-rated Detroit engagement and wedding photographer.
I met Annie and Alex for the first time in person at their engagement session. Since I believe that you can never be too dressed up for your engagement photos, I was pumped to see Annie headed toward me in a floor-length RED halter neckline dress with a slight train… Yeah. Me, too. We got started at the DIA for their downtown Detroit engagement session so this dress and this location were perfect.
I knew Alex is in the Marine Corp and since I have a brother with over twenty years in the Marine Corp I immediately thought Annie’s dress would be perfect for the Marine formal that happens every November. Alex, if you’re reading this… you definitely looked dapper in your suit, too! Much love for your fashion sense also and your fun car!!!
I’m so thrilled with the way we were able to pull the city into their session along with the Detroit Institute of Arts while also getting cozy and having fun at Belle Isle. Scroll down to see some of my favorites.
A conference in Grand Rapids in high school brought Alex and Annie’s worlds together. They met, never dated, and went their separate ways. Until they would reconnect years later. Alex was already in the Marine Corp and due to ship out to Japan for two years. They fell in love long distance and have continued to fall in love and plan a life together… long distance. I can only imagine the emotions that two people experience when he distance is finally over. When the feeling home comes from a person and you can finally be together and be home. That is what I am most excited about for Annie and Alex.
Alex and Annie, May seems like it’s just too long to wait until I get to see you again. Hopefully our paths will cross again before then but either way, I will be in touch many times before then. Enjoy!
