A fall Meadow Brook engagement session wrapped in the setting sun in Rochester, Michigan provided by Kari Dawson top-rated Rochester wedding photographer.
Building a strong friendship and having lots of fun together are essential for a lasting romantic relationship, Danielle and Devin have this in abundance! I recently met them for their Meadow Brook engagement, and it was a blast watching their connection right before my eyes. They live in Chicago, and I’m really thankful that they prioritized their engagement session and made the journey. While weddings are exciting, it’s also crucial to cherish and enjoy the engagement phase.
Their story…
Danielle and Devin have known each other for many years. They come from similar backgrounds and first crossed paths while volunteering for a non-profit organization run by Devin’s mom and Danielle’s aunt. Although they attended the University of Michigan simultaneously and lived on campus, college led them in different directions for a time. However, fate intervened when Danielle found Devin after he was stung by a bee. Danielle discovered Devin after a bee sting, a little allergic, and a little drunk. She scooped him up and took care of Devin convinced she couldn’t just leave him behind with an allergic reaction. And so began their journey together toward their future.
They spent a lot of time exploring their shared Arab heritage, including dabke performances, taking Arabic classes, and participating in protests. They eventually realized what everyone else already knew: Devin and Danielle were meant to be together. Together they have navigated law school and long distance before returning as leaders to the same non profit they grew up in. In 2020, amidst the pandemic, Devin made their proposal extra special by recreating a previous trip to Italy right in his parents’ backyard.
To the future…
I am beyond honored to call Danielle and Devin friends and to be trusted with their precious memories. Together they are deeply rooted in the values, people, and culture of their ancestors and family. They are passionate in their professional and personal endeavors. Yet somehow have found a necessary safe space within each other to truly be themselves. They will each admit that they don’t have every single aspect of life in common. But, for the most important aspects they fall perfectly together and rely on family and community for the rest.
Danielle and Devin, I cannot wait to celebrate your love, family, heritage, and life together next May at the Colony Club!!!
