Mitch + Whitney met at the Hoedown, a huge country music festival in Detroit that occurs annually. They love country music. I love country music. Let’s be friends. Mitch is going to deploy with the National Guard soon so we wanted to capture the memories of their engagement before the two are separated for a year. This won’t be the first deployment they have navigated though. Shortly after Whitney first met Mitch they were separated but they developed a strong connection in that time. Things just became official when they were reunited. I come from a very patriotic family and have a big ole soft spot for the men and woman who defend our rights, freedom and safety.
After Mitch’s deployment these two are planning a late summer/early fall wedding at the Lazy J Ranch. I CANNOT wait! I simply adore rustic and elegant weddings! So it was no surprise that Mitch wore his boots for the first half of their row boat engagement session at Stoney Creek. Sounds like an odd mix perhaps but couldn’t be more fitting for the pair of them. Mitch and Whitney are both so laid back and content. Watching their connection as the sun set behind the row boat they were on was heart felt. The wind and the sun created magic around them. Whitney got even cuter when she got fun and flirty with Mitch after he put his uniform on. I always photograph the engagement ring in the setting of the shoot but have started to ask if either of the couple is wearing jewelry or personal items that we can combine with the engagement ring. I hit the jackpot with Mitch’s dog tags! Mitch has an obvious attachment to his dog tags but had an extra one that was engraved with the lyrics from their favorite country song. If you’re not swooning now, there is something wrong with you!
Mitch and Whitney I will be praying for the both of you during Mitch’s deployment. I know your separation won’t be easy. I’ll be counting the days with you until you’re reunited and ready to step into your forever together! Hugs! -Kari
