Gratitude…
I sent Lauren and Andrew a sneak peek of their Shepherd’s Hollow Wedding and was totally smitten when Lauren quickly responded with an emotional response. Wedding planning can be intense. Wedding planning for a YEAR longer than you were intending to is no joke. There is an extra layer of emotion and gratitude that is oozing from the insides of the incredible people I get to usher down the aisle this year. My heart is so dang full.
Some things are out of our control…
With Nikki Johns Events onboard in addition to the amazing staff at Shepherd’s Hollow, you would think that every last detail would be under control. Insert Mother Nature. So it’s going to rain on your wedding day? It’s out of our control so I’ll bring my clear umbrellas and Lauren picked a few of her own, too. Do you know what happens when you pack umbrellas? You don’t need them. And we didn’t. Until after dinner… sure, portraits were done. Dinner was nearly over when it suddenly looked like a hurricane in Michigan. Thennnn we were escorted to the basement for shelter because… Tornadoes… and glass. If you haven’t seen photos of this amazing venue yet, you’ll quickly understand why heading to the basement was our best bet.
Extra cocktail hours..
Lauren and Andrew mingled with their people in that basement as beers were unboxed and trays of cocktails were passed. So they enjoyed an additional 45 minute cocktail hour. And they didn’t mind one bit. It rained during their engagement session. And apparently, these two are just weather magnets after experiencing TWO hurricanes together in the last year alone. I don’t know, I think that rosary in the tree failed us, Mr. Sab! We were clearly covered in protection and the party went on.
Their style…
Every last detail was impeccable. I loved the simplicity of their Minted wedding invites that were still unique with the blue etching, perfect fonts, and even a bit of blue foil. The room where Lauren got dressed perfectly coordinated with her wedding day. The florals by Corrina at Petit Fleur were so incredible. Allow me to share a few things I noticed: Lauren’s bouquet was lush and full but it was NOT heavy. It was beautifully labeled, as were the rest of the florals. It was wrapped in a bag of water so they don’t have to deal with returning vases this week back to the florist. Genius. The pop of blue that the gentlemen wore was stunning. Lauren’s Badgley Mischka shoes, the details in her hair, and her Etsy robe; all perfect. As incredibly beautiful and amazing as her dress was. And it was made for Lauren, let me tell you. Her veil was the real showstopper.
I am so so thrilled for you, Andy and Lauren that you finally had your day and you are now Mr + Mrs!! Cheers to many, many more years of joy and exactly zero pandemics. xoxo – Kari
