Ellen’s calm demeanor that I noticed all afternoon transformed into a beaming smile when she saw Chris during their First Look. I had so much fun during their portraits soaking up every beautiful corner of Meadow Brook Hall that we could. Their outdoor ceremony took place at the rock garden beneath a cloudless sky. It was made even more personal because Ellen’s brother had the joy of marrying them. Guests kept cool during cocktail hour under the canopy of the trees during cocktail hour before migrating inside the tent for the reception. This is the first wedding I experienced at Meadow Brook that had the flaps of the tent lifted. It was so breezy and so gorgeous. The sun began to set behind the head table during dinner. The speeches were among the most heartfelt and definitely the funniest ones I have heard to date. And I’ve heard a lot of toasts. There were lots of tears but so much laughter, too. Right after Ellen and Chris shared their first dance as husband and wife I snuck them out for a few sunset portraits. My favorite part of the day was probably watching Ellen run in her wedding dress back to their reception. I seriously love seeing my bride’s fall in love with the way everything comes together and show determination to soak in every last second. Chris and Ellen, it has been such a pleasure getting to know you both and I had such a great time at your wedding. I enjoyed seeing a few familiar faces, too! Welcome to the married couple’s club!!
