Blush and maroon Meadow Brook Hall wedding in Rochester Michigan. Photography at the Meadow Brook Mansion provided by Kari Dawson, top Metro Detroit Wedding Photographer, and her team.
Just a couple of reasons why Eric + Sarah are my people…
- Playlists
- Maroon tuxedos
- Pink! duh.
- Euchre decks
- HUGE balloons (anyone else think of Donald Trump just now? sorry, truly)
Details…
The bridesmaids were getting their hair and make-up finished by the ever so talented Lena Shkreli + Co and I was styling Sarah’s details while song after song hand me jamming. Sarah was pacing in the room when I mentioned we could share a playlist. But Sarah has a playlist for everything. So Sarah paced and I shot details as the music played on. Sarah’s strapless wedding gown with sheer back and lace overlay was stunning and fit her perfectly. The small train didn’t have a bustle and elegantly flowed behind her all day. She wore her beautiful hair down with just the top pulled away from her face. A vintage style crystal bridal hair comb to secure her cathedral veil. Each of Sarah’s bridesmaids chose their own bridesmaid dress in various shades of blush and pink. Wait until you see how lovely every single dress is and so perfectly suited for each bridesmaid. Each of their styles ultimately added a vintage quality to the wedding day style. The bouquets, designed by Ruby Slipper Design were lush and unstructured, just the way I like them.
A few of my favorite moments…
Sarah was beaming behind her veil as she come down the aisle. And seeing her father pull her veil back was a favorite moment. Selfies are what Sarah and Eric do. It’s their thing! What would their wedding ceremony be without one? So they did just that after Sarah’s father gave her away. Their ceremony was ministered by two of their great friends. They included the Jewish tradition of The Seven Blessings; each one read by a significant person/family in their lives. I am a sucker for culture and tradition and found this to be incredibly emotional. Most noteworthy, they wrote and read their own vows. If you know Eric, you aren’t surprised he found a way to work batman in there. But in the most charming and swoon worthy way. In addition to those sweet moments, they shared a first kiss, broke the glass, and high fived.
The party…
The large balloons we used for bridesmaid portraits early in the day were then dispersed around the areas of the reception space. Just on the edge of the dance floor was a lounge space created with a vintage sofa and chairs. A polaroid camera was situated near there so their guests could, of course, create selfies and leave for Sarah and Eric. Each centerpiece was uniquely collected and created using vintage pieces such as, an old rotary telephone combined with wood blocks hand painted with white numbers to create table numbers. Each centerpiece was then made complete with neutral florals with a pop of coral. The tables were draped in a lace overlay and anchored with gold chiavari chairs. Oh and custom euchre decks tucked into little canvas bags set in place for all of their guests. Pink, music, euchre… a few of my favorite things. And champagne.
To my happy couple…
Getting to know you both has been truly a wonderful experience. I have and will continue to enjoy seeing your life together through selfies. Your appreciate and excitement for the way I capture your memories fills my heart. Your wedding party and families were a joy to be around. And you did something at your wedding that I have never seen before. Your very personal speech to thank your family and dearest friends is a reflection of the amazing people you are and the love that you share. You had everyone in the joint crying. In the midst of your special day, you paused to make those that surround you know how special they are to you. You deserve the moon and the stairs and I have no doubt you’ll run together until you reach them. Happy honeymooning! Hugs – Kari
