When a glorious sunny fall afternoon meets the elegant decor of a barn wedding like this Stone House Barn Wedding in Bancroft, Michigan it equals perfection. Kaitlyn’s wedding dress was displayed beautifully amongst the farm’s wood wall and barn door before she stepped into it. The rich tones of the menswear in blue against the floor-length bridesmaid dresses in cranberry were divine. The florals in the barn popped off of the neutral linens with lush greenery, muted pinks, a hint of cranberry, and a touch of coral mixed with Wedgewood blue candlesticks and votives. The string lights and natural sunlight in the barn added so much warmth and intimacy. All creating a truly magical and cozy space to celebrate this lovely couple.

Their story…

You all know how much I love a serendipitous story and Chris and Kaitlyn’s is one for the books. They both did undergrad at Grand Valley. Not only did they attend the same four years but they both majored in the same program. Yet they never crossed paths.

As fate would have it, they both then attended the physical therapy program at Oakland University. Kaitlyn took a year off and it was in her second year that her professor, Jacqueline began to conspire to set Kaitlyn up with a tall redhead with the ability to make anyone laugh. Shortly after graduation, Kaitlyn beat her professor to the punch when she joined bumble and swiped right on Chris. Chris swiped right on Kaitlyn and their first date was in the works. And the rest, as they say, is history.

It was Kaitlyn’s bestie, Sierra that put Kaitlyn up to creating her bumble profile and it was so fun meeting not only Sierra, the rest of their favorite people but the very professor who started it all, too. Getting these two to the altar wasn’t all roses. Covid kept them separated for nearly a year through what should have been the final stages of their wedding planning and their wedding day itself. And if that wasn’t enough Kaitlyn also battled but kicked cancers @ss during the months their original date was postponed.

So blessed…

Witnessing the abundance of love from their immediate families and all of their living grandparents was a gift. I watched joy and pride leak from the eyes of many throughout their wedding day. Being in the presence of such genuine love, authenticity, and acceptance is a gift I don’t take for granted and will never forget.
