Gwen was looking over the final details, centerpieces and linens when I arrived on Friday for their spring Waldenwoods wedding. The lilac and silver color palette was perfect for spring. Clarke was due to arrive any minute and I couldn’t help but wonder if Gwen was trying to sneak a peek at her groom. Gwen was soon in one of the upper rooms when her groom and his groomsman finally did arrive. And though she didn’t successfully get a look at Clarke, that doesn’t mean she didn’t try. I am always delighted to shoot at Waldenwoods. The outside is reminiscent of a southern mansion overlooking a calm lake. The upper rooms and reception are are full of character and charm. The string lights hung from the ceiling always add extra sparkle to the couple’s wedding day photos.
Gwen and Clarke were both just excited to see each other and get married. Neither of them displayed a stitch of nervousness. It was a pleasure to see the sheer joy wash over their faces when they finally did see each other for their first look. The breeze picked up Gwen’s lovely hair and dress. The movement added to the romance of their portraits. All of the ladies looked amazing in their purple bridesmaids dresses. The cut and color were a perfect compliment for each of them. The floor length bridesmaid dresses were also caught in the breeze and looked so pretty. The groomsman were all stunning in their grey tuxedos and charcoal grey ties. I love that Clarke stood out in his classic white dress shirt and bright white tie. Their afternoon was full of family, friendship, joy and laughter. As the evening rolled in the toasts were given. Everyone in the room laughed and there were a few tearful moments, too. But soon the dance floor was open! Boxes and boxes of hats and props were brought out. The dance floor was packed and nearly everyone wore something fun. Canadians know how to have a good time!
Gwen and Clarke, I hope that you are both settling beautifully into your marriage and your life together in Canada. I hope that Clarke’s schedule is changed so that you both have more time to share together as newlyweds. I’m excited to share a peek of your wedding day and can’t wait to share the rest with you! Hugs! – Kari
