Their story…
I asked Anna’s mom if she ever thought when her daughter was an 8th grader that she would marry her then boyfriend. Her response was a resounding and sort of giggly ‘no’. Quickly followed by a paragraph of lovely compliments and sentiments about Will. I met and began dating my husband at the age of 15. If you’ve been around here a while that is no secret. As a mom of four girls myself I often wonder when the men they will marry will walk into their lives. Maybe they already have. Even though I married my high school sweetheart it still seems laughable to me that any of my children would marry theirs. As a wedding photographer, I have heard many, many stories about the divine intervention behind bringing two people together and I realize all the pieces will fall into place at just the right time. For Anna + Will… that was in the eighth grade.
There isn’t a thing in this world that can full Anna with more joy than Will. And I would say the same about Anna for Will. You would think after 11 or 12 years that the light in their eyes would have faded. But Anna’s nose still scrunches up in laughter and as you’ll see in their memories, he makes her laugh a lot. And Will still looks at Anna like they might be the fourth date in. Will is a romantic and cares about the small things. He proposed the night before Christmas Eve under the little tree in the apartment they share. He turned on Anna’s favorite Christmas song and lit the yule log (ahem, Netflix). Anna carefully unwrapped a large box that Will took much care in wrapping and found a small card. The card instructed Anna to stand up and close her eyes and when it was okay to open them again she found Will on one knee with a gorgeous engagement ring. Anna will tell you “the rest was an exciting blur – there was lots of crying & hugging.”
Their wedding day…
Anna + Will’s elegant wedding was impeccably planned and carried out. From the ladies in blush to the blush and gold accents that filled the Colony Club to the classic black tuxedos the groom and groomsman wore. The florals added to the end of the pews at the Saints Peter and Paul Jesuit church were darling and the warm natural light made Anna glow even more than she already was naturally. I had to push tears aside more throughout Will and Anna’s wedding day than any other wedding I have been part of. The toasts were emotional but full of laughter as well. And the dance floor was packed. If there was ever a doubt that these two are beautiful together and selfless to their friends and loved ones, you can tell by the care they take for each other and the number of friends that filled the room.
Anna + Will, thank you for welcoming my team and I in with open arms and making us feel like family. Enjoy every last second of your honeymoon before returning to kick of the official start of forever together. xoxo – Kari
