Planning…

When I first met with Silvia and Gordon, virtually, they were not planning a private residence outdoor wedding. Like many couples, 2020 had another plan for their wedding day. Therefore, the most wonderful backup plan emerged. I have to be honest, with every couple that has informed me that they are scaling back to a more intimate day, I sigh a bit of relief for them. Every couple has hoped that they can entertain every person they love dearly. But many have decided that instead of scrapping the whole thing for another year, they can plan for a more intimate day.

Silvia and Gordon are no exception. They openly spoke on their wedding day of the family and friends that weren’t there. Wishing they could all celebrate together. But their entire day was made even more special because, above all, they were truly surrounded by their nearest and dearest. In addition to the guests present, they were able to stream the festivities via Zoom to two different countries.

That included each of their adult children and their partners. Each of which gave a personal toast before dinner. There were many joyful tears and lots of pride extended toward this beautiful couple. From both their children and their friends. Memories were shared. Laughter was in abundance. And the depth of each very personal connection to this couple had every person in the room beaming with happiness over their union.

Open doors…

I’ve been caught off guard by a moment or two. I’ve cried at weddings. I did manage to keep it together at Gordon and Silvia’s but it was HARD. I am always honored to be part of every special day. Truly. But never have I been as honored as this wonderful wedding day. They are soulmates that prove that anything is possible at any time in life.

Always look for open doors. You never know what or WHO is on the other side.
