The night before Mikal and Emily’s wedding, I saw a photo of them at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial during their rehearsal dinner. Emily was beaming with her bright smile! In the few days leading to their wedding the weather was rainy and a little chilly. But their wedding day blossomed into a perfect afternoon full of sunshine. The War Memorial is one of my favorite venues for an outdoor wedding ceremony. Mikal and Emily said ‘I do’ as the sun began to sink behind the building. The shot of Emily as she came up the aisle toward Mikal is one of my favorites from their day. Her big smile just screams happiness. A lot of couples that enjoy a first look sink into complete comfort. The ability to see each other before the ceremony chases the nerves away. But Mikal really came alive after the ceremony. I saw Mikal through my camera as he sighed and relaxed his shoulders and within moments his face lit up. He wore a permanent smile the rest of the night.
Some of my other favorite moments include watching their nephew photograph the first dance, see Mikal rip up the dance floor followed by a word-for-word live karaoke to Humpty Dance. Mikal and Emily, I loved every second of your wedding day. Enjoy your sneak peek and happy honeymooning!! Hugs! – Kari
