At Kari Dawson + Co, we captured this Michigan Law Quad engagement through a blend of timeless storytelling and editorial style.
Some couples bring an energy that blends effortlessly into their surroundings. Linda and Alex are one of those couples. Their Michigan Law Quad engagement session is a mix of romance, elegance, and a touch of playful charm. Perfectly reflecting who they are together.
Linda and Alex’s story began during COVID, when online gaming unexpectedly brought them together through mutual friends. What started with Among Us soon turned into daily connections. Eventually, Linda, living in Cincinnati at the time, began making the trip back to her home state of Michigan. By August 2021, they were officially dating, and in June, while on a family cruise with Alex’s relatives, they became engaged.
Their wedding plans are just as intentional as their love story. They’ll be married in May 2026 at the Henry Ford Museum at Greenfield Village, with a ceremony at the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Linda will also be baptized this year, a beautiful, personal milestone woven into their celebration.
Wardrobe is a powerful way to bring personality and polish to an engagement session, and Linda and Alex nailed it with two looks:
Wardrobe variety like this gives your session variety and authenticity: dress up for timeless portraits, then shift into something more casual to capture the natural, fun side of your relationship.
Alex describes Linda as “cute and innocent,” while Linda calls Alex “charming and funny.” Their dynamic is the perfect balance. Linda brings warmth and softness, while Alex adds energy and humor.
Some of my favorite quotes from them:
And those sweet glances they talked about? This session was full of them, moments where Linda looked at Alex with quiet adoration, and moments where Alex’s humor brought out Linda’s biggest laugh.
As an Ann Arbor photographer, I love the University of Michigan Law Quad for engagements. The Gothic stonework, tall archways, and serene courtyards create an elegant backdrop that feels timeless. If you’re an alum or current student, then you just know the peace that can be gained within the quad and the law school’s esteemed library. Nearby, the Nursing School’s modern glass architecture offers a contrasting, clean, contemporary look, making it easy to capture two distinct styles in one session. Both were the perfect backdrop for Linda and Alex.
Planning your own engagement session in Ann Arbor or beyond? Whether you’re drawn to the timeless architecture of the Law Quad or the modern elegance of downtown Detroit, your session can be a reflection of your story and style. I’d love to help you capture it with the same mix of romance, authenticity, and artistry.
