Courtney and Gerald describe themselves as fashionistas, and they showed up to their Michigan Central engagement session ready to prove it. With three bold looks and the confidence to match, they began at the newly revived, iconic Michigan Central before moving to the Detroit Institute of Arts and the historic Detroit Public Library. Each backdrop offered a different layer of Detroit’s timeless charm, and every outfit made the architecture shine all the more.

From a chic neutral mini dress paired with Gerald’s caramel suit, to an effortlessly stylish drop-waisted dress outside the DIA, to a final sleek evening look, all in white, every outfit was a reflection of who they are: modern, intentional, and unafraid to be seen. Photographing them was effortless because their chemistry brought each location to life.

Their Story, Their Way

Courtney and Gerald began dating in 2017 after a first date in Royal Oak. Gerald had planned to propose, but when his grandmother’s health declined, he brought Courtney into the conversation early so she could be part of the moment. He proposed at the hospital, with his grandmother present. The thoughtfulness of that moment says everything about them.

Gerald describes Courtney as thoughtful, caring, smart, sexy, and hardworking. Courtney describes Gerald as driven, hilarious, adventurous, and big-hearted. Together, they balance style with substance, and their engagement session was the perfect reflection of that.

This fall, Courtney and Gerald will celebrate their marriage at the sprawling Castle Farms. Their wedding palette, navy, black, gold, and olive, is a bold yet timeless nod to classic elegance.
