Fall Stony Creek engagement photos in Washington, Michigan provided by Kari Dawson, top-rated Metro Detroit wedding photographer, and her team.
Is there anything more romantic than Stony Creek engagement photos in the fall with the warm romantic sunset and lush colors around you? If you have been around a while you know I spend a lot of time shooting at Stony Creek. I have my go-to areas but I truly love exploring and discovering hidden gems. But it is a combined process between myself and my couples.
Joel lives in DC and flew in specifically for their engagement session. Sara lives in Novi and instead of choosing a natural location near them they opted to let me guide them. Through a questionnaire, they filled me in on their dream vision then allowed me to choose the spaces and make a recommendation. Stony will always be my recommendation if anyone is asking simply because I know it so well and it never gets old.
Sara and Joel decided that they wanted a session in a very natural setting. Think walking trails, woods, etc. Overall, hoping for something that would contrast nicely with their slightly formal outfits then work as a beautiful backdrop when we switched things up into a more casual option. This is my favorite time of year to go all out because the weather will allow us to be chic in that favorite dress and not freeze. Dressing in rich tones, while also being able to pop into denim, a cozy sweater, and your favorite boots.
Preparing the blog post for Sara and Joel has me beaming because we nailed the locations with their outfit choices. We did get poured on. And I mean poured on. They were such troopers, at one point the rain coming down, while they were under an umbrella together, was so loud. Thankfully the downpour only lasted a few minutes. We were prepared so they stayed dry until it settled into a soft rain which they then completely rocked as you’ll see below.
Joel and Sara, I think of you guys often as you continue to navigate long distance together. You must cherish the fleeting days you get to spend together and I’m so excited to share these special memories with you today while you happen to be together in DC. I hope that this week in DC together is the jumping off point for all of the seeking and adventuring you will do together when Sara finally gets to make the move. Until then, we’ll be counting down the months and days together until your big day at Planterra. And I can’t wait!
