Chelsea and Zach are doing long distance leading up to their wedding with neither of them in Michigan currently. So when you make travel plans for your Detroit engagement photos you make it work rain, shine, or brutal temps and all. The twinkle of the clear holiday lights were still woven into the city so I’m glad we opted for early January. I love the casual urban vibe with their pup near Shinola Hotel. I also love the elegance of the Detroit Institute of Arts. We had a great time getting to know each other while exploring the city and getting these two comfortable in front of the camera.
When you own a clothing brand, it just makes sense to model them for your engagement photos right? Can your athleisure wear do that? Look and chic and pulled together while still being cozy? I did not plan to plug Public Rec. But, Chelsea and Zach seriously looked so pulled together that I had to check it out. Then I was so excited to see various length options (short girl problems) so I placed an order.
Back to Chelsea and Zach… I can’t lie. All of the heart eyes for their fur baby who might appear little at only 35 pounds but he’s a tough guy built like a rock. He completely won me over and I think it is quite obvious in the photos that his humans are equally adoring towards him and he is towards them.
We had the best time in the city together and I can’t wait for your April wedding, Chelsea and Zach!

Karli has been Kari’s creative partner for five years. Before every wedding, we visualize you as a couple, your venue, and your day, so we walk in prepared for a calm, intentional experience.
Kari is the creative director, and since she’s only human and can’t be everywhere at once, Karli closes the gaps. She shoots alongside Kari, keeps the day on schedule, carries your bouquet, fixes your veil, and is a real-life cheering squad.
That’s not even the best part. She’s also Kari’s daughter, which means we communicate without words. She anticipates what Kari needs before she asks, and together we’ve built a wedding-day rhythm you'll notice.
