Be prepared to adore this Chicago engagement session! I met Jessica and Corey at a coffee shop for their consult and connected with them instantly. We originally planned to shoot their engagement session locally until Jessica suggested we shoot in Chicago. Um, yes, please! I currently have to couples living in Chicago but planning their weddings back home in Michigan so I scheduled sessions for both of couples. My husband, Todd and I road tripped to Chicago on Friday, check into our swank James Hotel then stuffed our faces with Mexican food at Su Casa. The food so was so delicious, the margarita.. not so much. But I’m not a tequila girl. We saw this hysterical local show, Bye Bye Liver and while waiting on our Uber car, I saw that Jess and Corey were out with friends about five minutes away (thank you, Facebook). Suggesting we bombard their Friday night is pretty out of character but I am so glad I did! We talked about so many things and drank craft beer that pretty much kicked my butt. Yeah, I’m not a craft beer kind of girl either. It wasn’t horrible but the alcohol content is something you should consider BEFORE you order. I personally think I get pretty funny after a cocktail but I didn’t actually as Jess or Corey. We did laugh a lot though.
Jessica and Corey were friends and running partners before they ever went on a first date. Jess, after some time, started to realize she might just be into her running partner. Her roommate finally informed her that Corey was not coming up to the apartment to watch The Bachelor because he wanted to be just her friend. When we met for their engagement session the following afternoon I didn’t have any jitters which is unusual for me. Engagement sessions are a pretty intimate experience. I know you’re going to be nervous which in turn makes me feel nervous. Jessica and Corey were still feeling anxious but warmed up quickly and were total naturals. The blooming trees along the River Walk were so pretty. The sunshine downtown was magic. And we ended their session at North Beach. They spread out a blanket along the water, sat closely and shared a glass of champagne. The city behind them was divine. Corey almost took a champagne cork to the face when the cork flew from the bottle before he even tried to open it. Before long, I joined them on their blanket and we talked while the sun began to think about setting. My handsome assistant/husband, Todd walked with us to Tango Sur where our easy conversation continued over the most divine meal and a bottle of wine. I fell in love with Chicago even more. I can’t wait to get back there. I am even more excited at the prospect of hanging out with Jessica and Corey while they share more of their favorite parts of Chicago with us. Jessica and Corey, thank you so much for being awesome, we had such a great time in Chicago with you. I am even more excited about your September wedding at Planterra! And truly hoping we make it back to visit before then. Hugs!
