Black tie Townsend Hotel fall wedding in Birmingham, Michigan provided by Kari Dawson, top-rated Detroit wedding photographer, and her team.
How they met…
Why online of course! After a little internet chatting they agreed to meet at Hyde park for drinks… umm a drink. Matt had one drink then wanted to bounce leaving Sara wondering if Matt thought things went as well as she did. But soon after parting ways that evening, Sara’s phone pinged with an invite from Matt to see each other again.
Before they knew it they were spending much of their spare time together enjoying travel, meeting each other’s families, traveling with family, and racing together.
The proposal…
Matt joined Sara’s family on a vacation to Patagonia and it was on the day of an intense hike that Matt decided to propose. Everyone in on the plan except for Sara. During speeches, I loved hearing Sara’s mom retell the story of this day and I’m pretty sure she said the hike was about 12 hours long. After miles of hiking uphill, they each made it to the lookout where Matt got down on one knee and asked Sara to marry him.
Their wedding story…
Well, this one is 455 days in the making. While Sara and Matt were legally married in 2020 they postponed their original wedding day making it their big family bash. Then had to postpone again. And again. My heart aches so much for these lovely couples that just want to share their love and their joy with their friends and family. So FINALLY 455 days from their original wedding day Sara and Matt got to have the celebration they always planned.
Sara and Matt, I am so thrilled to have been on this journey with you both. Continue to enjoy date nights, hikes, races, and adventuring together!!!
