In the spring of 2022 I met Katie and Bo after their engagement as they began to plan their wedding day with family and friends. In May of 2022 we met in person in their hometown for their engagement session. Peep that blog post if you want to see their precious furbabies! On June 1, 2022 they gathered their parents for an intimate wedding, in their socks and slippers right in their own living room, before Bo’s thirteen month deployment. Thank you for your service! Finally, on their second wedding anniversary they gathered their friends and family again for the big Lovett Hall wedding day.

Their story…

They met many challenges during Bo’s deployment in addition to the obvious long distance. Katie managed the maintenance of their lives, dogs, her career, and home on her own for those thirteen months including repairs, lawn cutting, and much more. Being a service person requires the sacrifice of not only the service member but their loved ones as well. But watching them interact and listening to the way they speak to and of each other along with the toasts it is clear that the deployment only brought them closer. It is evident that family is highly important to them, even visiting family while on their roadtrip and honeymoon out west in 2022. Annnd sports. They began as acquaintances at MSU and reconnecting after graduation at a MSU football game. The weekend after their engagement was spent in Detroit where they attended a Pistons, Red Wing, and Lions game!

The wedding day…

You might be surprised, as you scroll through some of my favorite moments of theirs, that the emotions were running very high even though they have been married for two years. Marriage is indeed the start of the journey. And I think Bo and Katie love each other even more now than all of the days behind them. Thank you both for inviting me onto this journey with you both. May your great days together always outweigh the tough ones and the separate ones that may be ahead.
