Northern Michigan Engagement Session…
I was so excited to finally meet Kim and Jackson in person at their norther Michigan engagement session in Presque Isle. Never heard of Presque Isle? Many people haven’t but it is a quintessential Michigan beach town nestled on the shores of Lake Huron. Jackson has a family cottage in the area and has introduced the area to Kim during their dating years making it a special place for them both. I am a sucker for the state marinas with their blue pier railings that dot the coast of Lake Huron. We of course had to begin there. Before long we were walking the wooded path along the shoreline to the old Presque Isle Lighthouse. Our family has a little slice of heaven of our own on Lake Huron and I can’t get enough of the pebbled beach, sandy shores, and rows of pines. We truly had the best time chatting, laughing, actually dancing, and skipping rocks.
How they met…
Kim and Jackson met in Florida during grad school. While sharing a cubicle they discovered their mutual fondness for video games, art books, and Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares. It wasn’t long before they began texting but keeping their focus on their grad work. After submitting the final piece of their project Jackson asked Kim to take a break with him. That break involved waiting on others so they squared off playing Capcom vs SNK 2… until 5:00 in the morning. By then, they were both aware of the inevitable and finally admitted what they both already knew. And so the actual dating began. They have filled the last five years making memories while traveling, trying new foods together, video games and movie nights. Their bond over video games has brought them to collecting video game counsels together including the game boys featured in their photos.
Their proposal…
A birthday trip for Jackson to New York City would have them sharing the experience of the Nintendo stores and Museum of Modern Art together. During a stroll through Central Park, they came upon a quite spot near a pond where Jackson got down on one knee and asked Kim to be his wife.
I absolutely loved our time on the shores of Lake Huron together and enjoyed watching you both relax over time and allow your personalities to come to life. Thank you for trusting me with these precious memories. I can’t wait for your big day at San Marino!
