I was so excited to finally meet Claire and Louis in person for their fall engagement session in Detroit. The weather brought a little chill that none of us were used to yet but both of them were absolute troopers. I really do try to keep my couples moving and grooving anyway to limit the awkwardness of being photographed together for the first time. Especially in such an intimate experience like your engagement photos.
The library…
Claire and Louis are getting married next year at Lovett Hall so I was not surprised when they chose the Detroit Public Library and the Detroit Institute of Arts for their engagement session. Both have such classic and timeless architecture. But my favorite moments were our final ones spent on the corner in front of the historic Park Shelton across the street. Claire’s own family was married in that very building!
We got started at the Detroit Public Library and while we still can’t shoot within the walls that house all the good stuff we had a great time chatting and getting to know each other as we explored the exterior together. It was the perfect location to pen another chapter in Louis and Claire’s love story. As an avid reader myself, I can’t wait for the day that we get to explore the interior with my camera in hand.
The DIA…
From the library, we ventured to the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA), a palace of art. Their engagement session was a celebration of their love. Their love story is set against the backdrop of these iconic buildings. Who knows if in another generation or two another couple will venture to this particular street block in Detroit and tell the tale of the experience Claire, Louis, and Claire’s family have all shared there.
Claire and Louis, I am so thrilled to be on this journey with you both. I can’t wait to meet your family. And I can’t wait to see the magic of your wedding day unfold at Lovett Hall.
