Oak Pointe Golf and Country Club summer wedding in Brighton, Michigan provided by Kari Dawson, top rated Metro Detroit wedding photographer, and her team.
Eric and Kortney decided to wait until the ceremony before seeing each other for the first time at their Oak Pointe golf and country club summer wedding. But they did meet at a quiet corner at Oak Pointe to exchange cards. After reading them Eric said “Hey, Kort what are you doing later?” Kortney’s response was “I’m going to a big party.” To which Eric said “I think I’m headed to the same party, want to go together?” And Kortney said “pick me up at 5:00 pm I’ll be wearing a big white dress.” I mean…. I melted into the porch.
The Details…
I met Kortney at a house she rented across the lake from Oak Pointe and found it to be a cute cottage with open space and lots of gorgeous natural light. Kortney’s mom and bridesmaids along with two of the cutest flower girls greeted me cheerfully. I personally have found that being an aunt is one of life’s greatest gifts and it was no surprise that Kortney asked her nieces to be part of the wedding. As I looked around the room I saw the bridesmaid’s dresses hanging in the perfect shade of pink. And wait until you see the flower girl’s dresses that were a pink sequin bodice with big, big tulle skirts. So adorable. Kortney’s dress is fit for a princess. One of my favorite images of the day is of her dress hanging on a tree flowing in the light breeze. It isn’t often that a detail becomes a favorite but Kortney’s dress is easy to adore. The fitted bodice enhanced Kortney’s teeny tiny figure then gave way to layers and layers of tulle. Speaking of details, Kortney and Eric chose a mostly neutral color palette with just a hint of navy here and there.
The Ceremony…
The guys all looked sharp in their navy suits paired with baby pink neckties. An outdoor ceremony was planned on top of the hill overlooking the lake. The wedding party and bride and groom entered the aisle by walking through a set of large white doors. Hardwood laid all the way up to the alter served as the aisle. The alter itself is a gorgeous solid wood piece that charmingly displays a small chandelier in the center of it. All of it was hand crafted for the wedding day. A wooden barrel held the programs for each guest to receive as they entered the ceremony site. Eric and Kortney personalized their ceremony with a ‘tying the knot ceremony’. Eric has a fun loving personality and it shined when he asked his best men to provide ring pops when asked for the rings.
The Reception…
Oak Pointe has a lovely space full of tall windows for the reception allowing guests to see the sun as it sets during dinner. The tables were draped in neutral linens and white napkins except for the Captain’s table which was draped in gorgeous gold sequins. The semi-rustic theme and wood carried into the centerpieces which were full of the prettiest neutral color palette and lush greenery. Candle light flickered on every table. Their wedding cake was a gorgeous three tier semi-naked cake. But the highlight was the donut bar! There was a candy bar, too. But a donut bar! The room filled with laughter during the toasts. The sun set on a beautiful evening that gave way to lots and lots of dancing and one of the largest sparkler send offs! Kortney and Eric’s Oak Pointe golf and country club summer wedding is going to be the perfect segue into fall.
