When I arrived at The Valley of Frutig Farms on Saturday afternoon for Robbie and Lyndsey’s summer barn wedding. I asked Lyndsey how she was feeling. She looked stunning in her Bride silk robe, her hair up and make-up complete. But, even though she replied with ‘the nerves come and go,’ she looked more like a deer in headlights. And I mean that in the sweetest way possible. I knew there wasn’t a shred of doubt in Lyndsey’s mind. She was marrying her prince but the emotions were a little overwhelming. She smiled but her eyes didn’t really light up and you could see that her focus lied in the hours ahead as she prepared to see Robbie. Lyndsey carefully put on her wedding dress, added her earrings and slipped into her white lace Toms. And the tears began to fall when she took hold of her bouquet that was wrapped with a simple, beautiful vile that held a reminder of her late cousin who was not only family but her best friend.
Robbie waited in the upper barn for his Bride to meet him for their First Look. As Lyndsey stepped through the barn doors I saw her silhouette and as she drew closer to Robbie her face lit up, eyes and all. Neither of them let their smiles slip from that moment on. These two were so obviously madly in love and so excited to be getting married. Their portraits were romantic and sweet and full of joy.
Even though Lyndsey saw her groom before the ceremony, tears still fell down her face in the moments before the ceremony began. One of my favorite moments of their entire day was when Lyndsey looked to her dad as she came up the aisle with him and her mom with the broadest smile and so much excitement. Lyndsey’s dad performed the ceremony which was sweet, funny, and a wonderfully personal experience for them all. Robbie kissed his wife, she grabbed her bouquet then jumped in the air with a shout. It was from that moment that all the nerves were completely deflated and Lyndsey was herself. So full of joy and excitement with a constant smile that was contagious.
Lyndsey and Robbie, your wedding was one of the most romantic days I have ever witnessed. Not just because of the love and adoration you share for each other. But it was evident among all your friends and family. As I looked around the barn and watched couples dance I could see the affection between so many couples. It was as though your love exploded into the room and everyone felt it. I adore you both. Thank you for inviting me into your lives and your wedding day. Hugs – Kari
