When I entered the Antheneum Hotel I was quickly greeted by Marissa’s bright smile. Marissa + Craig planned their wedding from Milwaukee and we met for the first time as she prepped for her wedding day. She was surrounded by her beautiful bridesmaids who, along with Marissa, were a true delight all day and so laid back. We planned more than enough time for preparations that the atmosphere was relaxed and everyone had the time to really take in the gravity of the day. I was pretty stoked to see the pink J Crew bridesmaids dresses! I’m a pink girl. Am I stating the obvious? Each of the ladies had her own style. I love when the bridesmaids are given the opportunity to be unique and choose a dress that is fitting of their figure and personality. The ladies all looked stunning in pink! Marissa + Craig’s families were both so warm and welcoming with a good dose of humor that kept me belly laughing all day.

When I met Craig, at Saints Peter and Paul Jesuit Church, he was cool as can be and ready to get married. When he did finally see his bride, as she came up the aisle, he had a difficult time containing his emotions. I watch each couple through my lens during their ceremonies and brides and grooms have blank expressions though portions of it. Marissa never had a blank face. She beamed. The entire ceremony! And in nearly every shot, as Marissa smiles brightly, Craig is looking at her. That is what true love looks like. It was easy to see as the day progressed just how connected these two are and how connected the families are to one another.

The ballroom at the Colony Club was to die for. Marissa + Craig had a few minutes to themselves before all their loved ones joined them. As Marissa took in the room she said ‘I finally have the wedding of my dreams’ as she threw her arms open. The two of them walked hand-in-hand to look over all the details they chose in the months leading up to their big day. Guests eventually made their way in before the big announcement on the balcony. Their guests were on their feet and applauding as they made their way downstairs to the ballroom. I get caught off guard at least once during each wedding and spill a tear or two. After the speeches, the sweetest Nun spoke a blessing and prayed over the meal. And she got me. But it wasn’t long before the band kicked off as Elida (my second photographer extraordinaire) and I filled our bellies with heavenly food, coffee, and sugar in the form of the most amazing wedding cake! Marissa + Craig danced, the parents danced and Elle and I danced. We had a blast shooting the dancing on a jam-packed dance floor.
